ADHD EDUCATIONAL BOOKS AND VIDEOS
ADHD stands for attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder and ADD stands
for attention deficit disorder. ADD was
renamed ADHD a number of years ago. ADHD
is a medical condition that affects how
well someone can sit still, focus, and
pay attention. ADHD is a common
behavioral disorder that affects many
school-age children and is quite common.
Boys are usually more likely than girls
to be diagnosed with it. They may have
trouble focusing on certain tasks and
may have problems with paying attention,
hyperactivity and impulsivity. Although
ADHD begins in childhood, sometimes it's
not diagnosed until the teen years.
ADHD is not caused by poor parenting,
too much sugar, or vaccines. ADHD has
biological, genetic and environmental
origins that are not yet clearly
understood. About half of all kids with
ADHD also have other learning
disabilities. Although ADHD itself is
not categorized as a learning
disability, it can cause a child to not
perform well in school and at home.
ADHD is usually treated with a
combination of medication and behavior
therapy. In many cases with proper
information and professional guidance,
ADHD can be treated or managed
successfully.
