DIVORCE AND CHILDREN BOOKS AND VIDEOS
One out of every two marriages today
ends in divorce and many of these
families include children. Although many
of these parents are preoccupied in the
divorce process, their greatest concern
is how the divorce will affect their
children. For some children, the effects
of divorce are traumatic and can last a
life time. Regardless of whether the
divorce is traumatic to your children,
life will change for them. There might
be changes with regards to living
arrangements, time spent with parents
and lifestyles. Talking to your kids
about your divorce can be a very
difficult task.
Divorce can have many different effects
on you children. Many children believe
they are the cause of the separation.
They remember times of getting in
trouble and when they argued with their
parents. Some children think their
parents will stop loving them or stop
sharing their life with them. Many
children wish their parents will get
back together again. Young children may
feel rejected by the parent that left.
Older children and teens may feel anger,
anxiety, depression, shock and traumatic
stress. Sometimes even well after a
divorce is finalized, there are
conflicts between ex-spouses, custodial
parents and step parents. Most
children require information,
reassurance and support from their
parents. Some children may require
professional guidance.
Some of our educational books and videos
address the fundamentals of divorce and
children while others deal with more
