PEER PRESSURE EDUCATIONAL BOOKS AND
VIDEOS
Making your decisions are difficult, but
when others get involved and try to
pressure you it can be more difficult.
Peer pressure is the influence on how
you act by people your age or peers like
your classmates. It's something everyone
has to deal with. Peers influence your
life and actions, even if you don't know
it. When influenced, maybe you want to
do an action, and you just don't have
the courage to do it and your friends
talk you into it.
Peer Pressure can be divided into two
categories; good peer pressure and bad
peer pressure. Examples of good peer
pressure from adjusted children could be
influence in proper and ethical actions,
and pressure to be involved in sports
and other healthy activities. Examples
of bad peer pressure could be influence
in the use of drugs, cigarettes, and
alcohol, bullying, youth violence, gang
violence and criminal activity. The best
way for your child to stay away from bad
peer pressure is to encourage your child
to be friends with kids who will have a
positive effect on them.
The reason why peer pressure has a very
strong influence on kids is because
everyone wants to be liked and popular.
If your child feels out of place or is
not accepted by their peers, they may
give into peer pressure to fit in just
to have friends. Most kids are concerned
about what other kids think about them,
even if they don't admit it. They don't
want to be made fun of or rejected by
the other children. They may try a
cigarette or a sip of alcohol, just to
have friends and fit in. Others may go
along because they are curious to try
something new that others are doing.
Some of our educational books and videos address the fundamentals of peer
pressure while others deal with more advanced peer pressure management problems
and offer solutions. Our Peer Pressure Resources Store has lots of books and
videos here to help deal with peer pressure!
